About the AKEBIA EXTRACT BG

AKEBIA EXTRACT BG is a plant‑derived moisturizing ingredient composed of Mokutsu extract and 1,3‑butylene glycol. The extract is obtained from the stem of Akebia quinata or Akebia trifoliata, traditionally known in Japan as “Mokutsu.” It enhances arginase activity in keratinocytes, supporting the natural production of urea—an important component of the skin’s natural moisturizing factor (NMF). This ingredient is designed to help moisturize the skin from both external and internal pathways.
